Almost three years experience was gained in the Commercial Civil Engineering Industry in the design of buildings such as multi story office blocks, shopping centres, apartment blocks and industrial structures, the materials of construction ranging from reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, and timber. Nearly eleven years experience was gained in the natural resources industry specifically in minerals and metals processing and material handling. More than three years experience was gained in the petrochemical industry. Five months experience was gained in the power generation industry (wind generated power) Extensive experience was gained in conceptual and detail structural design (including dynamic analysis and design) of reinforced concrete and steel structures such as plant buildings, process buildings, process support structures, foundations and structures supporting equipment imposing dynamic loads (such as vibrating screens, roll crushers, jaw crushers, vibrating feeders, etc.), bins and silos, material handling structures (such as conveyor support structures, transfer houses etc.), pipe racks, water retaining structures, retaining walls, raft foundations, and foundations in general. Experience was also gained in infrastructural works. Significant experience was gained in Lead Engineer roles (ten years to date) responsible for leading and managing engineering teams in the execution of medium to large EPCM projects, feasibility studies and cost estimates. Responsibilities as Lead Engineer included preparation and technical adjudication of tenders, preparation of specifications and design criteria, set-up of project control budgets, determination of project scope of work and work break-down structures, conceptual development of plant layouts and structures, quantity and cost estimates of works, budget and man-hour control, report writing, site support and inspections, assisting in contract administration, issue of completion certificates, etc.
