Chih-Wei Hsieh

Dr. Chih-Wei (Robert) Hsieh is a transportation engineer with expertise in traffic modeling, travel behavior analysis, GIS content and data integration, and intermodal trip planning. Currently, with Metropia, Inc., he specializes in travel behavior analysis using artificial intelligence and crowd-sourced data, such as cellular signaling and has applied this expertise to travel behavior model development through integrated activity-based demand and large-scale dynamic traffic assignment (DTA). Dr. Hsieh has extensive experience in transportation-related projects, including road traffic safety management, public transportation policy development, accident-induced emissions and energy consumption estimation, and bus fare structure evaluation. He has also led several transportation-related projects, including the User Informatics Service, which provides users with personalized traffic alerts by detecting their regular trips and incident events, and the Bike Comfort Route, which helps users find safe and efficient bike routes. Additionally, he has overseen the development of the School Zone Alert system, which alerts drivers when they enter a school zone and encourages them to reduce their speed for safer driving. As a product manager, Dr. Hsieh is passionate about using data-driven insights to create sustainable and efficient mobility solutions. He has a proven track record of leading diverse teams and stakeholders to develop transportation products and services that meet the needs of customers and communities. In his role at Metropia, he further extends his knowledge to Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform deployment.
