Robert Doyle

For more than 30 years, Bob Doyle has worked to uphold public safety through his career with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and his more recent appointment as the Chairman of the California State Board of Parole Hearings. With the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Bob Doyle served as the elected Riverside County Sheriff, Coroner, and Public Administrator in a complex organization that had 4,000 employees and a $450 million budget. As the Riverside County Sheriff, Bob Doyle managed law enforcement in a county with a diverse population of more than two million people. Bob Doyle’s career at the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department began 35 years ago, when he started working as a Deputy. Bob Doyle was quickly promoted at the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department; within four years, he was an Investigator. Two years later, Bob Doyle became a Sergeant at the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and advanced to the rank of Lieutenant 12 years after he was first hired by the department. In 1989, he accepted a position as Captain, and two years after that he became the Chief Deputy. In 1991, Bob Doyle began serving as the Assistant Sheriff at the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, and in 1999 he was made the Undersheriff. Ultimately, Bob Doyle won election twice, in 2002 and in 2006 as the Riverside County Sheriff, Coroner, and Public Administrator. Throughout his career with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Bob Doyle continued to pursue his education. He obtained two Associate degrees in Criminal Justice and Physical Education from the College of the Desert, and he then received both a BA in Management and an MA in Human Resources from the University of Redlands. Bob Doyle earned his PhD in Management from California Coast University in 1999. Bob Doyle also holds a lifetime teaching credential for the California Community Colleges.
