About

Systems Engineering Leadership Led team of 10 engineers to complete design changes, fix errors, and resolve multiple reference problems in engineering data process. Delivered finished Offshore Oceanographic Science Vessel Integrated Ship Electronics design on time and under budget. Led regulatory compliance of ship subsystems. Experienced at reading, interpreting, and successfully passing engineering designs through regulations. Acted as point of contact on site at Vancouver Shipyards for 4 years. Provided professional guidance to several junior engineers spanning 6 years. Research & Development Used first principles physics analysis to resolve issues via experiment: o Stabilized arc lamp performance by modelling two-phase flow through a Bernoulli jet pump. O Isolated and filtered sensor signal interference in lab from 2MW DC power supply. O Determined root cause of 3 phase flow limitations to pulsed power tests on arc lamps using 100k fps camera analysis and other data. Design in non-atmospheric environments: o Hard vacuum 10-11 torr design of electromechanical gold evaporator mechanism for photon emission spectroscopy (mono autonomic gold layer used for baseline of spectroscopy experiments). O Operated and repaired faulty operation of RF casting furnace by repairing seals and reprogramming the time temperature profiles. O Conducted experiments on 157nm laser in vacuum and nitrogen atmosphere (due to laser breaking down Oxygen if in atmosphere). Manufacturing Extended the performance envelope of arc lamps by more than double by standing up comprehensive QA procedures on mechanical arc lamp assembly, gamma ray scans of electrodes casting, optimization of RF casting furnace. Stood up quality control of Thales Engineering data on systems with more than 5000 connections using MS Access and data source comparisons. Successfully prevented thousands of hours of on site debugging with proactive fixes. Led steering system electrical group for 2 years with around 10 electrical technicians and one support engineer. Delivered around 50 ship steering systems per year. Supported arc lamps in semiconductor fab tool for 4 years in Class 10 clean room.
