Rod Dalrymple

I am passionate about data and its value to an organisation. From developing a Data Dictionary, to Senior Database Administrator at Shell, to Data and Enterprise Architect at NAB, to introducing object-oriented programming to NAB, to developing a Data Warehouse and Data Marts for Future Fund within an agile project for 6 years, I have always sought to understand the business domain and strategies to design solutions that meet current and strategic business requirements. My passion has lead me to research data-related technologies and techniques before they become mainstream, including relational database (System R, meeting Ted Codd), object-oriented (Smalltalk) programming, Google Map/Reduce and BigTable, and Hadoop in its earliest form. Doing a Data Science course using R is a natural progression for me as I enjoy analysing and leveraging data at a detailed level in conjunction with programming. I also enjoy coaching and mentoring others.
