Rodrigo Burgarelli

Half journalist half data analyst, deeply interested in public policy, economics, urban affairs, demography, politics and social issues. Currently at Facebook, doing custom research for the Communications and Policy teams as well as vetting and creating methodologies and best practices for data analysts throughout the company. Former reporter at Estadão Dados, a data journalism group of one of the major Brazilian newspapers, where I used to do everything from finding stories and collecting data all the way to tinkering with different visualization and statistical analysis. Won the main Esso prize in 2015 - the most prestigious journalism award in Brazil- for an investigative series that disclosed the misuse of public funds for subsidizing private universities. Was also part of the team who investigated the Panama Papers. I've been a part-time instructor and teacher for the good part of the past decade, having trained hundreds of journalists and communicators in data related skills.
