Roger Meade

In 22 years as a Marine officer I accumulated a wealth of leadership experience managing hundreds of military professionals in some of the most difficult and austere conditions imaginable. Through multiple combat deployments to places like Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq I've learned about the value of teamwork and the importance of attention to detail. Along the way I developed a diverse set of skills including excellence in oral and written communication. Throughout my career I remained focused on becoming the best military aviator possible and to that end I accumulated extensive aviation experience flying helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft amassing 3,100 flight hours, including 1,000 hours in turboprop aircraft. I am an instrument-rated and licensed as a commercial pilot in both airplanes and helicopters. As a fixed-wing instructor pilot I trained hundreds of military pilots from the Navy, Air Force, Marines and partner nations taking them from zero hours to solo and beyond. I've been relentless in my pursuit of knowledge, alternating between the roles of student and teacher. My teaching experiences include tours as a flight instructor, Park University adjunct faculty, and Assistant Professor at the Joint Forces Staff College. As a student I've attended a number of military schools including flight training in Pensacola and the Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico. Along the way I managed to obtain two Master of Science degrees, and I am currently pursuing a Doctorate in International Studies from Old Dominion University. I retired from the Marine Corps in 2014 and accepted an Exercise Planner position at Booz Allen Hamilton supporting the USINDOPACOM Joint Exercise Program (JEP). For two years I helped managed several major theater-level exercises ushering them through all phases of the Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC). After several years focused on exercises I transitioned to wargaming, playing a key role in developing native wargaming capacity and serving as the face of INDOPACOM wargaming to the Joint Staff Defense Wargaming Alignment Group (DWAG). As the wargame lead I oversaw the development and delivery of multiple wargames within the command as well as members of the interagency and numerous international partners. For the last two years I have been a member of the INDOPACOM Joint Training and Assessment division assisting the Joint Force Commander in evaluating the contribution of the $127 million dollar Joint Exercise Program (JEP).
