Russel Van Tuyl

Russel Van Tuyl is an operator for SpecterOps. His primary role consists of conducting adversary simulations and red team operations. He is also skilled in penetration tests, web application assessments, wireless assessments, and social engineering engagements to include both phishing and pre-texting. He has more than 15 years of experience in the technical field in roles such as database design, field device support, help desk, IT asset management, programming, and information security.Russel regularly exploits known vulnerability to compromise a network, establish command and control, maintain persistence, and escalation privileges. He also well versed at identifying and exploiting vulnerabilities identified in the OWASP Top 10 listing to include SQL injection and cross-site scripting vulnerabilities. Malicious documents are crafted frequently and used in tandem with phishing campaigns to gain initial access into a company's network. Additionally, he is well versed at programming and scripting languages. Russel maintains several open source tools and scripts developed python, Golang, and sometimes even Java. He is also working on a Master's of Science in Information Security Engineering (MSISE) through the SANS Institute.
