I am currently a structural/earthquake engineer and risk analyst with Partner Engineering and Science where I am responsible for seismic risk assessment (PML evaluations) and ACSE41- or performance-based evaluation/retrofit of existing buildings. Before joining Partner, I have worked on two sides of the building industry in California; first as a consulting engineer at one of the best firms of our field, Rutherford+Chekene (R+C), and then for a couple of manufacturing and construction companies in the field of concrete repair and strengthening with a focus on FRP and other composite material. I have had the pleasure and honor of working as a consultant at ARUP (San Francisco), ICC-ES, Mar Structural Design, Maffei Structural Engineers, and R+C. During my career on the consulting side, I worked on several applied research projects including probability-based seismic performance assessment of buildings, evaluation of code requirements for directional combination of building seismic responses, development of seismic and wind analyses of roof-mounted solar panels, evaluation and improvement of the current code formula for seismic design of acceleration-sensitive nonstructural components, and simplified seismic design procedures of ASCE 7. I have worked on several seismic evaluation/retrofit projects (commercial and industrial facilities including powerplants). Thanks to the opportunity of working in one of the most advanced earthquake-simulation labs in the world at UB, and later on working at one of the best consulting firms in our field, I have learned a lot about analysis, design, and construction of a wide range of technologies for seismic strengthening of buildings. My experience with nonlinear response history analyses has given me the opportunity of serving as a peer reviewer for several new design or retrofit projects including highrise structures with concrete core walls, and base-isolated hospitals. I have about 4 years of experience of technical business development for manufacturing companies in the field of FRP material. I have served as a member of ICC-ES board of directors, and I am currently a voting member of ACI 369 Committee.
