Sandhaya Parekh

Sandhaya Parekh has practiced in the field of pediatric nursing for 20 years. She has been a leader in nursing and interprofessional education for the last 13 years. Currently, she is a senior educator in the areas of pediatric perianesthesia, sedation and medical day procedures at The Hospital for Sick Children. Sandhaya is responsible for all aspects of nursing education at The Hospital for Sick Children, and works collaboratively with various interprofessional staff to maintain a high level of patient care. Sandhaya has worked on various innovative projects throughout her career, some of which include: the development and implementation of a pediatric sepsis pathway, sedation program, pediatric wound care workshop and diversity, inclusion and equity education curriculum. She has also developed and delivered education both locally, nationally and internationally in the areas of pediatric sepsis and sedation. Sandhaya chairs various interdisciplinary committees at The Hospital for Sick Children. She has presented her work in interprofessional education in the areas of sepsis and sedation at various national and international nursing and health care conferences. Sandhaya has also led the undergraduate nursing pediatric course and is appointed as guest lecturer at the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto. Additionally, Sandhaya was a clinical instructor in pediatric nursing at both the University of Toronto and New York University.
