Driven to strive for a world where all have the opportunity to thrive. Through experience across diverse nonprofit settings, as well as formation in the interdisciplinary fields of Social Work and Public Health, I am positioned to understand and approach issues of equity and how they impact individuals and families – recognizing the need for advocacy and systemic change while also providing people with support and empowerment to overcome complex, unjust barriers. I have a sincere interest in others’ experiences and narratives, and work grounded in cultural humility, openness, and empathy. My direct service experience informs the ways in which I implement strategic, mission-driven program design and management to promote quality, client-centered services emphasizing the importance of collaboration. I view language learning as a way to foster global inclusion, understanding, and connection to others. After returning and relocating to Santiago, Chile, I currently serve as an English Language Instructor to students of varied ages and levels in classroom settings both in-person and online – a natural extension to my previous work with the immigrant community in the United States. Fluent in Spanish due to 8 years of formal instruction, 6 months of intensive cultural and language immersion in Santiago, Chile, as well as continued personal and professional use. 5 years of experience interpreting in settings such as social service agencies, courtroom, medical and immigration appointments, among others. 5 years translating official documents including public health informational handouts, client personal statements and letters of support for immigration cases, assessment forms, and therapy module presentations from both English to Spanish and Spanish to English.
