My daughter Tilly lost her hands to meningitis septicaemia when she was 15 months old which threw me into a world of prosthetics and fundraising. Together we stand for change in the prosthetic world. Disrupting how prosthetics are made and viewed in the world. Now working with Open Bionics we showcase how The Hero Arm is not only a medical device but a piece of art which can also be a fashion accessory! The Hero Arm is changing the way people feel about prosthetics. Through our work we show that embracing your differences is your superpower and what makes you unique and interesting. In my life I have fundraised for Tilly and worked in fundraising through my work. I am an Experienced Fundraiser with a demonstrated history of working in the non-profit organization management industry. Skilled in Event Planning, Marketing Strategy, Event Management and Social Media. I believe building strong relationships is the key to success and I have great social skills. I use these skills through my day to day work at Open Bionics helping other individuals crowdfund to help them buy a Hero Arm too. Making prosthetics accessible and affordable has always been the most important thing to us and I build relationships with corporate and philanthropists to try and make people’s bionic dreams come true. I have a Bachelor of Science - focused in Textile Design from The University of Huddersfield. Although my life just took me in a different direction for my career, my other big passion is styling and fashion and I am a very creative person working as my daughter’s stylist to successfully create videos, social media posts, photoshoots and appearances to share the beauty of bionics and embracing individuality. I also manage Living with the Lockey’s and focussed on supporting my families dreams and hopes and connecting them with people to help them get where they need to be.
