Sarah Plocharczyk

I have a broad base of experience working with people to achieve excellent results in terms of cost, quality, and delivery for customers ranging from individuals to greater than 100 million dollar projects. While I was at college the first time studying Biology I worked as a pharmacy technician with hopes of going into the medical field one day. I had the opportunity to travel and live alone in Guatemala for a summer learning Spanish after my freshman year. Then a chance encounter to work aboard a research vessel my final year at school led to new opportunities that included working my way up to being a mate while sailing on research vessels, working at Starbucks while exploring an opportunity to work with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission as an officer, to a commission as a uniformed officer in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Corps of Commissioned Officers, then went back to school to pursue marine engineering, to working as an engineer on nuclear submarine overhauls and deep submergence projects, and most recently as an engineering supervisor in the Deep Submergence group for the US Navy. What has been consistent throughout my career journey is that I am curious and an enthusiastic learner. I love working with people across disciplines and backgrounds to build a highly effective and cohesive team. I also enjoy the problem solving and coordination required to meet cost, quality, and delivery needs of individuals and projects. I am currently responsible for overseeing a branch of highly technical personnel with varied backgrounds supporting Deep Submergence projects for the US Navy. This routinely involves process creation and implementation, configuration management, and technical writing while collaborating with various departments, technical personnel, and program officials. I am always looking for ways to grow as a professional and as a leader.
