Dr Sarah Richardson is a passionate researcher, educator and writer. She has been working in the education sector for 27 years as a teacher, lecturer, researcher and research director. Sarah is currently based in London where she is the Research Director for the Australian Council for Educational Research UK. She moved to this role in February 2019 after finishing three years as Research Director for ACER India, based in New Delhi, and prior to that 6 years for ACER in Australia. In this role Sarah brings together her extensive experience in educational research (particularly in assessment (primary, secondary and tertiary), evaluation of educational projects, education policy and data collection) and desire to contribute to a better understanding of educational issues in the UK, Europe and beyond. In her work, Sarah directs multiple research projects for clients such as the Australian Government, other national and regional governments, the APEC Secretariat, OECD, UNICEF, World Bank, British Council and Global Affairs Canada. Sarah has a PhD in education and politics from the University of Melbourne, a Master's Degree in International Relations (thesis on literacy programmes for women in South Asia) from the University of Amsterdam and a Bachelor's Degree in Human Geography from the University of Liverpool. With this background Sarah thrives in international projects and is fascinated by the intersection between education, culture, society and policy. Sarah has a particular interest in the ability of education to contribute to global understanding and this is reflected in her most recent book - 'Cosmopolitan Learning for a Global Era - Higher Education in an Interconnected World' (Routledge 2016). When not at work Sarah is often found in far-flung destinations, indulging her love of travel, wildlife and photography. In addition to English she also speaks Dutch and a smattering of French, Spanish and Hindi.
