About
I have 20 years’ experience in the international development sector; 7 years in a senior management/ leadership role as Director of Programmes for an education-focused INGO, heading a diverse portfolio of development and humanitarian initiatives. Having spent the best part of my professional career working in fragile and conflict affected states (including Afghanistan, Burundi, DR Congo, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Sudan and Iraq), I am well versed in developing programmes in challenging regions and political environments, undertaking scoping studies with local NGO partners and communities to inform project design and bid proposals. A freelance consultant since 2017, I have since undertaken a range of evaluations, reviews, research pieces, programmatic support and training-related commissions. I have built a strong reputation as a highly capable trainer and skilled evaluator using participatory approaches and mixed methods. Having completed research on male-directed rape in conflict, I have an academic interest in the drivers of conflict related sexual violence and masculinity theory and am a Deployable Civilian Expert in Gender, Conflict and Stability for HMGs Civilian Stabilisation Unit. My sectoral and thematic areas of expertise include: Gender Equality, Gender and Security Sector Reform, Migration and Trafficking in Persons, Education in Protracted Crises, Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults, Rights-based Programming.
