Dr Sarah Thomson

I am the 8D lead consultant clinical psychologist, across five adult community learning disability services in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Foundation Trust. I am passionate about working with people diagnosed with a learning disability and/or an autism spectrum condition. I particularly enjoy helping teams to evaluate and develop their service, using my skills as a Quality Improvement coach, leader, manager and supervisor. I also enjoy working with families and paid carers to help them to understand behaviours that challenges and make adaptations that will improve quality of life and meet unmet needs that may be driving the behaviors of concern. In addition, I use adapted psychological therapies to work directly with the person diagnosed with a learning disability and/or autism spectrum condition who may have experienced trauma or loss or who want support with managing emotions or exploring their identity. I am trained in EMDR and I have been using this to enhance my clinical practice. I have particular skill in learning disability diagnostic assessments. I am also trained in administering and interpreting the ADOS.
