I’ve spent over 40 years in the energy sector and the main lesson I’ve learned is this: we present ourselves as working in a commodity industry; in a technology industry – both of which as true but, above all else we are a people industry. I believe people allow us to do the work we do and do it well. So, when we talk about digital transformation of equipment and assets, we also need to look at the digital transformation of people management is key to our success. I’m passionate about helping safety-critical industries, particularly the energy and maritime sectors, develop their workforce through digital learning, competence management and human capital management software. I started my career as a reservoir engineer in Alaska, evolving into senior management roles with global upstream energy companies – both established and start-ups – where I’ve steered them through periods of growth, prosperity, challenges and change. I’m now CEO in Mintra – a growing Norwegian technology company that innovates to allow its customers to successfully develop and deploy workforces across the globe.
