Sophie Liddiard

Through working as an Management Accountant I have gained imperative skills in the accounting environment. As well becoming ACCA qualified in early 2022. Primarily my role is in Commercial Management Accounts, focusing on areas such as Overheads where I am heavily involved in the monthly distribution, monthly variance analysis as well as trying to reduce any costs to the overheads. I also analysis the cost and revenue reconciliations on a monthly basis to ensure that everything is correct and again challenging any abnormal submissions. Both roles mean that I communicate and work with Commercial teams to get the needed result. As part of my role I also help with the month end, with prepayments, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure I can close the ledgers and distribute the cost reports to site in a timely manner. Over the last few years I have become increasingly involved with McLaren’s external audit ensuring that deliverables were completed with accuracy in a timely manner. My job role has also meant that I work closely with the payroll department for reconciliations and costings. Other tasks I am involved in are; inter companies, Office or National Statistics, cost transfers, Project set ups as well as overviewing processing and postings of the Purchase Ledger department. My initial role at McLaren was a Sub-Contractor Assistant helping with the day to day tasks such as processing payment. This role gave me a higher level of understanding in regards to concepts such as VAT and CIS tax. Prior to joining McLaren, I successfully graduated with a Geography BSc Degree in 2015. The modules which I undertook had focus on the political and economical geography of the world, as well as some focus on the business environment. My degree helped me gain skills such as confidently presenting in front of filled lecture halls. It also assisted my ability to think analytically and at a fast pace, something which is relevantly applied to my accounting work. Fundamentally, I am an ambitious individual who seeks to exceed targets and continually better my knowledge and skills within the workplace.
