When it comes to designing a robust, dynamic, and powerful insights platform, you need a lot of different skills. First, you need to be able to identify and develop an effective approach to solving the problem. Next, you need to build a data model to base the solution on. Then, an understanding of how to communicate these results to their intended audience is required. And finally, you need to build a framework to support both aspects and tie them together. Typically, these tasks are tackled individually by separate teams. Each component has its own challenges and requires expertise to implement effectively. Once isolated, however, issues can arise. Data might not flow effectively from one piece to another. The underlying analytic data model may not accommodate the needs of the visualizations. Without proper planning, developing future improvements can become a massive challenge. For this reason, it's important to have an architect who not only understands how and why each piece of the solution needs to function, but also has a vision for end result. An understand of how the different component can complement each other. During my time with Precima, I've tackled all of these problems. I understand what's required to develop each component, but more importantly, I understand how they work together. You will be hard pressed to find an individual with a skill set more suited to an analytics product architect than you will find in me.
