My first bachelor's internship was at South Fork and Midway Elementary schools teaching counseling classes to children in areas of anger management, empathy, and problem solving skills. My second bachelor's internship was at Rigby High School facilitating/counseling therapy groups with students, teaching them daily coping skills in areas of relationships, stress management, social, anger management and self-esteem. I assisted in bringing Fight the New Drug to perform a school assembly, in which they educated students on scientific-based research about pornography/sex addiction. I volunteered at the Family Crisis Center helping retrieve/hand out food to those in need. I assisted clergy in an emergency suicide situation gathering/delivering professional information needed to get the suicidal individual help. My Graduate internship was through D7 Treatment Program and Drug Court for about a year, where we worked with 30-40 clients at any given time needing court mandated substance abuse treatment. I was an individual and group therapist to drug/alcohol addicted clients, using Moral Reconation Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy in our group sessions as the main forms of treatment. I was able to assist in client intakes and sit in on Gain Assessments being given to clients. I learned how to read and analyze Gain Assessments and how to use them to best help our clients in forming treatment plans. I was in weekly drug court staff meetings working with D7 counselors, probation officers, financial coordinators, and judges in evaluating client progress. I also specialize in pornography/sex addiction, and will receive further credentials in this area. I've worked with many individuals that are spouses of porn/sex addicts that are recovering from betrayal trauma, and am able to assist them in moving forward through this difficult trauma. I have also facilitated 12-step groups in this area of addiction.
