I helped create and then project managed the first two Fivearts cities - a partnership between Channel 5 and Arts Council England. Fivearts cities has reached over 15 million people through broadcast programmes and community events. Of those directly participating in community events and activities, the majority were from socially excluded communities, communities scoring highly on the Indices of Deprivation, and/or communities with little previous experience of or interest in the arts. [source Write2B] I ran the inaugural H.E.R.O. Awards for the International Maritime Rescue Federation [www.imrfhero.org] and hosted the awards ceremony at the Naval Club, Cascais Portugal. I chaired the Churchill Alliance Marketing Committee [the Alliance was formed to create a forward legacy from the achievements of Sir Winston on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his death] and served on both the Academic Sub and main Committees of Magna Carta 800th. I launched APTN, the international video news agency of The Associated Press, the world’s largest news gathering organisation, including all aspects of international media, corporate and public relations and branding. I built a partnership between APTN and Chatham House to create a regular Middle East Forum chaired by John Simpson. I was Director of Charitable Activities at international educational charity The English-Speaking Union and Head of Domestic and International Publicity for Granada Television.
