Suneka Somarathna

After my A/Levels in Mathematics stream in 2005, I, a Vishakian, started reading for my B.Sc. (Hons.) Degree in Computing & Information Systems at London Metropolitan University and graduated with first class honors in 2009. My deep interest in computing rather than the need for some professional qualification inspired me to select this particular degree from many other study options available in the first place. I followed my heart and accomplished exactly what I’d wanted. When I found out about the PHP Diploma in Web Development offered at ESOFT Computer Studies Private Limited, I felt that it’d add to the knowledge, skills and competencies I had already acquired through my degree and signed up for it completed it in 2009. In February 2010, I joined eBEYONDS as a trainee web developer where I carried out a number of job responsibilities including website development, website update and maintenance, project co-ordination and communication with clients. My hard work, commitment and passion paid off well and led to my promotion in February 2012 as a Project Lead - Website Development & Management. I served in that position until March 2014 when I left for Dubai to join my husband. On our return to Sri Lanka, I rejoined eBEYONDS and accepted a new role in marketing in which the management wanted me to contribute my knowledge and expertise in the realm of web development to drive marketing for the business expansions under way. I intend to make the best use of this opportunity while continuously broadening, sharpening my career skills and competencies further while contributing my best to the success and growth of eBEYONDS, my employer. I look on every challenge I face as an excellent growth opportunity. Likewise, I believe I shouldn’t be afraid of taking creative risks and that in any mistake I make here lies a great learning opportunity. As I feel my sense of optimism and being a quick learner tremendously help me in fulfilling my responsibilities at work.
