Susanne Rhoades

During my initial years at Lilly, I worked as a clinical trial project manager and a clinical project manager in early phase oncology trials. In these roles, I gained experience in drug development, particularly in protocol development and study start-up activities involving cross-functional resources. In the in vitro diagnostic development group, I have successfully navigated new territory by managing the development of 9 diagnostic tests with external manufacturers. My role is responsible for the oversight of these projects and accountable for the delivery of project milestones. Having these responsibilities strengthened my skills in educating internal stakeholders on the steps, timing and costs of diagnostic development during both strategy and implementation phases, as well as managing the review of project deliverables by internal cross-functional team members. Additionally, I ensured alignment of the diagnostic manufacturer and drug team on the intended use and performance characteristics of these tests at the initiation of and throughout test development. Of the 9 projects, 3 diagnostic tests progressed to clinical investigation and required the integration of the test into clinical operations infrastructure. I have a collaborative working style and am able to build rapport and trust with the teams I serve. My leadership skills enable teams to make decisions that drive projects forward.
