Town & Regional Planning has shaped the manner in which the areas around us develop by ensuring that working and recreational facilities compliment each other in a manner that is not detrimental to the environment and/or human life. Through my employment in the Public Sector, I have become accustomed to the practices of this profession. Having 10 years of experience in the field, I find myself confident in the tasks that I undertake but also accept the challenges thereby always willing to learn from junior and senior staff members. Effecting change within peoples comfort zones will always bring about hostile situations however, having the will to inform people about the benefits of change is what matters. Having a Social and Moral conscious is also high up on my agenda, therefore always trying to assist either in the professional environment as well as in my personal capacity. My current employment has allowed me to become much more accustomed to Traditional Practices which, in my mind, is crucial considering we live in South Africa. The customary methods of undertaking tasks is quite enlightening and really humbling. Trying to ensure that predominantly rural people are not exploited through implementation of legislation and the likes is imperative in getting people to work together in rural communities whilst strengthening the socio-economic situations that people find themselves in.
