Tayla Frey

If you asked five-year-old Tayla what she wanted to be when she grew up, she would reply "pop star." For as long as I can remember, I knew I belonged in the entertainment industry. I quickly realized that while performing may not be my niche, public relations captures my interest of engaging and connecting with an audience. It also provides me the outlet to do so in an environment I'm passionate about. Serving as a student manager for two years, becoming a DJ, newscaster, and even delving into the world of sports broadcasting at 89.5FM WSOU permits me to explore my passion even further. Priceless opportunities such as attending numerous radio conferences around the state allows me to enhance my skills as a professional in the industry. Some of my proudest moments were attending the College Broadcasters Incorporated National Student Electronic Media Conference two years in a row and presenting a panel twice. My management positions of Social Media Manager and Promotions Director highlight successful leadership traits along with the experience to execute them. Robert Ingersoll once said: "We rise by lifting others." This is a quote that I try to remind myself everyday, and it is something that I heavily consider when I am on my Spring Break Collegiate Challenge trip with Habitat for Humanity. I am passionate about helping others and always lend a helping hand when I can, or a hammer in this case. Whatever the world has in store for me, I'm ready to take it on.
