I came up in the ranks by dredging for about 14 years. Such jobs as beach re-nourishment in Saint Pete beach, Florida (3 times) , beach re-nourishment in Miami Beach and also Key Biscayne. Worked on Miami main cruise and shipping channel, Tom Big bee River in Mississippi, Etc. Learned tenders and tug boat operations over the years and moved over to supply vessels. It was not what I intended but landed on a 256' supply vessel from port Canaveral to any place there was a See Bee base in the Caribbean. Mostly Rosie Roads and Antigua. Learned navigation a lot better and stood many a watch at sea. Mother became ill and had to take care of her for the next 6 years. I lost my towing due to Coast Guard license changes. I missed the grandfathering by 1 month by the time I knew about it. They would not budge. This was 1994. So back to dredging for awhile and electronics when out of work. This happens a lot with dredging. Hope I'm not boring anyone.
