Terence Donnelly

I grew up in a utility family, so the business is in my blood. After WWII, my father joined an urban utility as a gas mechanic and retired as a supervisor. Continuing the tradition, I now have over 35 years' experience in the industry, including executive positions across virtually every function: engineering, construction, operations, long-term planning, grid modernization, support services and beyond. As president and COO of ComEd, I now have the privilege every day of providing safe, reliable and affordable energy to 70 percent of the people who live and work in Illinois. This includes the city of Chicago, as well as much of the state’s industry. And i have the honor of doing it alongside our dedicated workforce of more than 6,000 employees. In more than a decade at ComEd, I have led the company to record levels of performance in reliability and customer satisfaction. Through a significant and innovative investment plan that has included the deployment of advanced technologies and innovative partnerships with regulatory and legislative stakeholders, we have improved energy reliability for families and businesses by 70 percent since 2012 without increasing the average residential bill. This type of progress is unprecedented in our industry. Equally rewarding has been my work to improve how we engage and develop our people. I have a personal passion for cultivating the diverse workforce of the future through initiatives that develop both young engineers and our next generation of skilled craft people. Our industry is poised for a new era of power, where technology, information and innovative offerings come together to give our customers and communities more energy options, convenience and a better life. We are charting a course for that future through new partnerships, advanced technologies and community engagement — a future where everyone benefits from the transformation underway. From our line workers to our engineers, across operations, transmission and distribution, my goal is to help make ComEd the trailblazer for excellence in energy far into the future.
