Thandiwe Ng'ombe

As a Development Economist, I am passionate about evidence-based decision making to solve developmental issues and contribute to improved livelihoods for vulnerable populations in Africa. My experience cuts across multiple sectors related to international development and poverty alleviation including financial inclusion; digital financial services; agriculture and food security; water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH);renewable energy; youth economic opportunity; and, community and enterprise development etc. I have advised a variety of public and private organisations such as donors, multilateral development agencies, development finance institutions, foundations and governments and have assisted them in developing and implementing projects in these sectors. I have technical skills in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis such as formulating theories of change, designing evaluation instruments, collecting desktop research, conducting key stakeholder engagements and writing reports. I also have experience conducting impact assessments, mid-term and end-term evaluations in Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, United Kingdom and Zambia. I obtained a Bachelor of Economics in 2015 and Honours degree in Economics in 2016 from Rhodes University. I also hold a MSc in Development Economics from the University of Sussex; the focus of my research was gender differences in agricultural productivity in sub-Saharan Africa.
