I’m a problem-solver at my core - whether that’s learning to solve a Rubik’s cube at the age of 12, creating a self-assessment tax calculator on Google Sheets in my early 20s, or reducing a process time from 48 hours to 2 hours early in my career, it’s an itch that I’ve always needed to scratch. I love diving into customer problems and solving them through collaborations with teams company-wide. I have 7 years of experience in which I have been able to develop my problem-solving skills in various startups and industry disruptors, taking a customer-centric view of issues and creating effective, scalable solutions which focus on key outcomes. Through my personal and professional experiences, I’ve learned a few key points: I can successfully make a process up to 2300% more efficient: - I will make sure to understand the “why” of every step before making changes. - I take a lean approach to process improvement, cutting out waste wherever possible. - I empower those around me to take ownership. I can align teams of 2-10 senior stakeholders to work towards common goals: - I can communicate ideas to both colleagues and members of the exec. - I can create narratives from data to tell stories of the past, present, and future. - I hold everyone accountable, including myself. I motivate and educate myself to be better: - I’m always learning, as I believe all skills and experiences are transferable. - Data is a tourists’ guide; people are the locals. Speak to the experts. - Choices I make will outlast me, so I take a long-term approach to making high-quality decisions. Ultimately, I’m hooked on learning new things, and applying that knowledge wherever it makes sense. Before being a freelance photographer, the most complex camera I’d ever used was attached to my phone, and I’d never used Photoshop before! Now, I’ve moved away from using professional DSLRs and the Adobe Creative Suite, and focus on film photography as a hobby, developing and printing photos myself. To help with issues which have popped up during my career, I’ve picked up the basics of some coding languages, such as Javascript and Ruby, and I’m now strengthening my knowledge of both Lean Six Sigma and Design Thinking. Outside of the working world, you’ll find me practising the wholly unflattering moves involved in Crossfit, learning how to level-up my baking skills, and trying to teach my dog as many tricks as possible!
