Throughout my life I have always been interested in a career in the medical field. I started as a CNA in college and moved on to work at Lutheran Medical center where I have been employed for the past 7 years. While working clinically in various positions in the heart center at our hospital, I married the love of my life, and started a family. Balancing work and family, while challenging, is very fulfilling. When the opportunity presented itself to work with our coder one morning, I was quick to volunteer because I love learning new things. I was very surprised to discover how much I enjoyed coding. After that day my mind was set. I finished coding school and took my national exam in 7 months. Having 7 years of clinical hospital experience, coding seemed to come natural to me. While having come a long way in the past months, I realize I still have much to learn. I am confident I can learn new programs with ease and become proficient quickly if given a chance.
