Thyl Kint

Thyl is an energy projects executive with 40+ years’ worldwide experience, both with operators and with major contractors. Recently responsible for Santos' $5+ billion Barossa Gas Development offshore Northern Australia and $700 million Darwin LNG Life Extension. Previously advising IFC (part of the World Bank) about its gas & LNG investments worldwide. Now Director and Chief Consultant at Ulenspiegel Pty. Ltd.Over his career Thyl has been responsible for over $13 billion in projects, mostly offshore oil & gas, and he consulted or completed due diligence efforts regarding LNG and offshore oil & gas investments on numerous projects worldwide. In his role at Santos, beyond the usual Project Director responsibilities, Thyl ensured the Barossa development was CCS ready and conceived the Bayu Undan CCS scheme. As CTO at BW Offshore, Thyl managed all of BWO’s engineering, tenders, & project delivery (450 staff), certain commercial negotiations with clients (up to $2bn), and special projects. Prior to that, he held the position of Global Director with Peritus, of CEO of AIM listed Spitfire Oil, and of Project Director for the multi-billion-dollar BHP Billiton Petroleum Stybarrow and Pyrenees offshore oil & gas developments in Australia. Thyl has a Eur IR civil engineering degree from Belgium, and a Master’s in Ocean Engineering & Business from the University of California at Berkeley. He is based in Perth Western Australia. He has triple Australian, Belgian & US nationality. Thyl was previously employed by Santos, IFC, Shell, BP, BHP Petroleum, Kerr McGee, BW Offshore & Spitfire Oil and has either lived or worked in every continent except Antarctica. Thyl is also an AICD trained company director.
