About

I have been involved in the development of scientific and analytic software applications for over 15 years. Starting my career as a developer, and then as a project manager, I'm now putting my technical background to use in my current role as Product Manager for Riskaware’s oil spill and CBRN risk assessment products. I enjoy working for dynamic, growing businesses, as it allows me to be involved in a wide range of activities and maintain a broad skillset. Through my work at Riskaware, I've gained expertise in oil spill and atmospheric modelling, and recently co-authored a paper published in the IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering. I was also part of a team who conducted a series of studies on behalf of the UK FCDO, which looked into the risks posed by the disused oil tanker, the FSO Safer, currently moored off the coast of Yemen in the Red Sea. These investigations have been referenced globally, including by the UN, US government, Time Magazine and the New Yorker. I enjoy getting out the office to meet customers and attend conferences. I regularly present talks and workshops on the products I manage. Most recently I presented at the Salvage & Wreck Removal Conference last December. I feel passionate about sharing my skills and knowledge, and have run internal training sessions on new technologies, such as containerisation. I also line manage a number of colleagues, supporting them with their progression and wellbeing at Riskaware. Although, in my new position, the majority of my time is spent managing and supporting the teams who work on our projects and products, I still like to get my hands dirty when I can with a bit of development to keep up-to-date with the latest technologies and programming techniques. I recently created a website for a river quality citizen science project run by the Bristol Avon River Trust. If you would like to check out my skills, then the site is available for everyone to view at https://bristolavonriverstrust.org/riverblitz/ To learn more about my work at Riskaware, visit our website, https://www.riskaware.co.uk/
