I currently teach Functional Skills to RAF and Saudi Air Force students as part of their advanced Apprenticeship course. The purpose of the job is to take responsibility for the tutoring and assessing of learners to gain timely completions for functional skills, at various levels, as specified by the Apprenticeship Management Centre (RAF). This will include delivering functional skills courses in the Training Centre in line with the organisation’s strategic plan and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). To deliver Entry Level 2 English, Entry level 3 English and ICT to International students and Level 2 ICT to RAF personnel. There will also be a requirement to produce reports for management information and learner tracking. I have also delivered ‘Back to Work’ courses on behalf of the DWP for Pinnacle People (Chippenham, Wiltshire). The courses designed specifically for single parents include many modules that are fully transferable and viable for many other provision sectors. Modules include: Communication and Listening Skills, Team Work, Conflict Management, CV and Letter Writing and Job Searching. The key aspect of this role job is the employability programme. Success was measured by the number of unemployed people that were facilitated to secure and sustain paid employment for a minimum term of sixteen weeks. Training was delivered to encourage the clients to successfully and positively search out potential employment through Internet searches and also speculative inquiries; an understanding of the hidden job market and how to communicate successfully with any potential employers. The aim is to increase the number of employment opportunities with potential employers and ready the client for any possible interviews.
