At the end of 2016 I chose to switch careers from for-profit high tech to nonprofit environmental public service. My focus is now projects and programs that improve our environment and people such as bicycling, zero waste, and Safe Routes to School. In early 2019 I biked 5000 miles from San Francisco to Boston and gave 254 talks about Oceans, Plastic, Climate Change, and Kids at schools, aquariums, churches, and libraries. My household is down to about 1 quart of trash a month, my house energy use is 100% electric & 100% solar & generates more electricity than it uses, my transportation is fossil fuel free. While individuals can accomplish what I've done for their own households (and these show it is possible to achieve), we need government and all organizations to also pursue this as if our lives depended on it -- because they do.
