Timothy Gutierrez

Experienced Crisis Management and Major Event Security law enforcement professional. Has served as lead security coordinator for several major domestic and international events. Has deployed to multiple large scale critical incidents to provide crisis management expertise. Has traveled globally to provide crisis response training. Entered on duty as a Special Agent with the FBI in July 1999. His first assignment was to the El Paso Division where he conducted investigations targeting major Mexican drug cartels. Also served as a member of the FBI SWAT team. In 2008 SA was promoted to Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) and established the Southwest Border Public Corruption Task Force targeting corrupt U.S. Law enforcement officers assisting Mexican drug cartels. In 2011 transferred to the FBI’s Crisis Management Unit in Quantico, Virginia. Has served as the FBI’s lead security coordinator for several large scale domestic and international special events, including the Presidential Inauguration, the Democratic National Convention, the United Nations General Assembly, the 2015 Papal Visit to the U.S., the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the 2020(1) Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Has deployed to several large scale critical incidents as a crisis management subject matter expert. Deployed to the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida; the Mandalay Bay Mass Shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada; Hurricane Harvey in Houston, Texas; school shootings in Parkland, Florida and Santa Fe, Texas; the serial bombings in Austin and Beaumont,Texas; Colleyville, Texas hostage situation and several other large scale critical incidents. Received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the United States Naval Academy and served for seven years as an artillery officer in the United States Marine Corps. Recently attended the Harvard Kennedy School's Leadership in Crises course.
