Shipping and logistics have played a major role in my life. My father was a master mariner and sailed the world. Consequently, shipping is, one can say, in the blood. The dynamic world of shipping and logistics have always attracted me and made me travel the whole world, meeting other people and cultures.Started at Spliethoff in Amsterdam, which has been a marvelous time, I moved to Trinitas which company I took over in 1997. I grew the company into a project shipping service with own vessels and entered a joint venture with Intermarine LLC. After 10 years of successful collaboration, Trinitas merged into Intermarine by 2010. I became a partner with Intermarine and Managing Director. By 2012 it was time to move on and on mutual grounds I left Intermarine. After a year of gardening leave, I started, refreshed, with SeaWorks BV. A small boutique office, booking special cargoes and operating third party ships. SeaWorks is specialized in realizing solutions for breakbulk and project cargoes, worldwide.In 2015 SeaWorks entered a partnership with Hong Fa Shipping of Shanghai. A pendulum service from Far East, via South Africa, to East Coast South America and return was started with monthly sailings executed by modern heavy lift ships.Arranging the transport of biomass from Spain to Scandinavia a new area was entered. When preparing the contracts etc it set me thinking what I could do to contribute to a cleaner world.I already was in contact with Climeon AB of Sweden. Since 2017 I collaborate with them and work on projects to install their ingenious machines, which produce electricity from wasteheat of 90-120 degrees celsius, in the Benelux. The market of renewable energy is large and a very exciting workingplace. Wasteheat comes from any and all production of materials and it is important for the future to bring down the carbon footprint which can be achieved with the Climeon units. Last but not least, my interest in contracts issues, led me to become an arbitrator and mediator; already for many years I have been registered as an arbitrator with the LMAA. Hence I also offer my services as consultant in contractual matters to avoid disputes issues between parties.
