ABOUT – Tobias Co-founder and CEO of FASTFORWARD. At FASTFORWARD we have a new approach to secure and access the world’s film heritage. ‘Digitization as a Service’ (DaaS) is a collaborative approach which accelerates project efforts with 10-30X digitized film, lowers the cost with 10-15X and utilizes the content owners’ internal resources. As former Project Director (2007-2015) at the Danish Broadcasting Corporation I was responsible for digitizing 420.000 hours of film with a budget of only 10 mil € - making it one of the world’s largest and most successful AV digitization projects at the time. The creation and development of DaaS is based on my experiences, and it removes traditional risk factors by supplying all needed hardware & software including training and upgrading of skills and access to expert consultancy related to film digitization as well as lowers the overall cost and secures value creation. I have a strong vision about rescuing our shared film heritage by digitizing it and making it accessible to everybody in various ways and forms as I believe that much knowledge and value can be derived from all the archives around the world. Having visited archives all over the world I now know that the challenge is too great, and we will not be able to save our film heritage unless we use new tools and approaches and collaborate. Clients and collaborators: DR, BBC, SVT, RTÈ, NEFA, NISV & NFSA among others. I hold a MSc IT from the IT University of Copenhagen and give talks internationally on topics related to AV digitization, digital workflows & innovations in the realm of successful AV-digitization in large and smaller organizations. I served as General Secretary of FIAT/IFTA (2012-2015) and has been on several national boards of largescale academic research projects.
