Dr. Tom Amaral

Dr. Tom Amaral is the Founder, President, and CEO of EAP Technology Systems Inc. (EAP Tech), which contributes to the health and productivity of employees and their family members by creating products that ensure the accessibility and effectiveness of Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs).Dr. Amaral entered the EAP profession immediately after he received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Indiana University. After more than 30 years of evaluating and researching EAPs, he has become an icon in the field and is a recognized expert on software, outcomes, return-on-investment (ROI), and benchmarking.Dr. Amaral has designed and implemented EAP-related projects for many Fortune 500 companies, governmental agencies, and nearly every other kind of employer and EAP organization. He is also the chief architect of EAP Tech’s software systems. He has authored and presented many papers and articles on research, evaluation, and software topics. He has also conducted numerous training seminars on a variety of topics, such as how to make the business case for EAPs, how to perform ROI analyses, and how to engage in benchmarking and quality improvement.Currently, Dr. Amaral sits on the research committees for both of the professional associations in the EAP field – EAPA and EASNA – and he is a founding editorial board member of the Journal of Workplace Behavioral Health.
