17+ years experience working as a painter and finisher. Highly skilled and knowledgable at surface preparation to receive finish coatings. Began career on a paint crew in Lafayette / West Lafayette while a student at Purdue, focused primarily on commercial properties, but did a fair amount of residential properties as well. Featured work while on this crew is the property directly across from the courthouse along North 3rd Street; we redid the facade of what is now Adelino's Old World Kitchen, as well as the adjoining property. I also worked for a summer with a custom home builder and took part in framing, window setting, and rough-in work for electrical and HVAC systems. Throughout this time, I also did side-work staining decks in and around Lafayette. From 2002 through mid-2005 I was lead painter for a painting and drywall contractor in Indianapolis. Our focus was on mid to high-end residential work, and we did large jobs. I learned drywall repair, texture, and finish throughout this time, as well as developed my understanding of surface preparation; I believe strongly that thorough surface preparation is the key to a good paint job. Since mid-2005 I have been entirely self-employed, and focus on exterior repaints in the summer, and do various interior projects during the winter months, such as drywall repair, texture matching for ceiling damage, and interior repaints. I am highly proficient at all things painting and finishing, and have some skill with trim carpentry and tile setting as well. I will remove wallpaper, as well as strip and refinish architectural woodwork. I work alone, and have no employees. I am insured, and pay my taxes. A client once told me that there are three considerations with contractors - speed, price, and quality. He said you can't have all three. With me you get quality and price.
