I worked in the private sector until after I had my children, when I joined West Midlands Police in 1994 as a clerk in Criminal Justice. I studied for the ILEX Certificate in Criminal Justice Administration and moved to Staffordshire Police in 1996 as Crime Management Unit Manager. I have been there ever since, but have been Archive Manager, Closure Manager and now Force Crime Manager since October 2011. I really enjoy my job.
