As of September 2020 I helped form MCE’s Debt litigation team and I am currently a team manager overseeing our offshore team based in the Philippines. This utilised my 10 plus years in management roles and stretched my training ability as I have trained 12 off shore staff members from scratch to now implement and process the many daily tasks that need to be completed to enable the company to recover debt via litigation methods. When I was first asked to trial a debt project the company had no processes or structure in place, one of my first hurdles to overcome was for the companies processes to marry up with the requirements of the pre action protocol outlined by the county court. Once this was aligned it gave the company security of knowing we could escalate any debt to litigation next steps and pay court fees save in knowledge we were adhering to all protocols. Within the first 2 months of the trial my team of 3 had recovered over £100,000 in unrecovered debt dating back as far as 2015. The decision was then taken that we would utilise our relationship with our business partner Flatworld and form a team of 12 off shore advisors to to carry out the day to day practices required. As previously stated this stretched my training capability’s to the maximum as the major challenge was getting the advisors to understand the court practices and to try and understand and empathise with our previous policy holders situations that they would be dealing with. My top 3 management skills would be as follows: •I engage with my team and understand their drives to set objectives efficiently whilst supporting them personally •I support my team to ensure that they have the tools to reach their objectives efficiently whilst supporting them personally. •Team morale is always at the forefront of my thinking as I firmly believe a happy team is a successful team.
