Troy Gua

Born and raised in Seattle, I'm a self-taught visual artist who grew up in 70s-80s America with images and icons that have been imprinted onto my psyche, fueling a prolific output of Pop-infused conceptual work in a diverse range of media, marrying popular to contemporary with wit and a crisp design aesthetic. The idea comes first, the media of choice is whatever best serves the idea, and the methods of fabrication are as wide in scope as the results. My subject matter, like my media choices, is fluid and wide in range, addressing iconography and identity, referencing contemporary culture and my relationship with it, underscored and sewn together with my unique visual language. While I do absolutely make art to express myself and to connect and commune with others, it may be more true to say that I make art because of the addictive nature of the joy I derive from delighting others with the images and objects I make. ~TG - See more at: troygua.com
