About
Following a change in career direction (previously in urban renewal and community development), I am focusing my skills, experience and feminist approach to building gender equality and preventing violence against women. KEY COMPETENCIES: Facilitating process and collaboration: Proven success in guiding, motivating and designing process to enable stakeholders and technical experts to develop strategies, deliver projects and solve problems. With State Government departments and agencies, I achieved positive community and organisational outcomes by developing a strong understanding of the drivers, actors and influencers of a project or problem. Strategy development and project planning: I have a strong track record of success in managing complex, multi-stakeholder strategy development, the most high-profile being the Docklands Community and Place Plan. My proven skills in major project planning, covering all elements from community engagement, media and communications, to verbal and written briefings and event planning resulted in successful delivery of the international ‘Melbourne a Milano’ program. Community and stakeholder engagement: With successful completion of the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) Modules 1 to 3 training, I understand and apply the IAP2 Core Principles to achieve genuine community engagement, and did so through projects including development of the Docklands Community and Place Plan, establishing the Docklands Community Forum and naming the 'Evan Walker Bridge'. Extensive local government experience: I worked at the City of Melbourne for over 15 years across four different work areas including international relations, urban design, place making and community engagement, developing an astute understanding of the bureaucratic and procedural nature of local government and an appreciation and ability to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders from State Government agencies to community groups.
