Vaibhav Rustagi

Pursuing Masters in Computer Science from Stony Brook University. I possess the ability to work in a group cohesively. My critical thinking abilities, professional etiquette and time management skills make me a front-runner in completing any given task. I am interested in the domain of kernel development, system programming, data science, distributed system, embedded system and cloud services and want to gain expertise in the above domains. I am currently working with Prof. Anshul Gandhi on the development of new memory allocation scheme for Memcache which can overcome the problem of calcification and therefore, increase the hit rate when object distribution changes rapidly. Prior to Master’s degree, I have 4 years of Industry experience. From June 2013 to December 2015, I worked at Samsung Research Institute as a mobile researcher and developer in the Subscriber Identity Module team (SIM card team). My role involved working on SIM driver layer, a layer that enables communications between a SIM card and mobile device. My role ranged from increasing battery efficiency by optimizing SIM card boot-up sequence and using the SAP feature for Car Kit(installed in an automobile) to developing a SIM Toolkit(STK) decoder. To explore more I joined Cadence Design Systems in December 2015. As a part of Voltus-Fi team, my job responsibility involved design and development of Voltus-Fi and Vsaplot tool by using optimized algorithms and better data structures. These tools provide transistor-level Electro-migration (EM) and Voltage drop (IR Drop) analysis for SoC’s. Here, I have worked on multiple projects such as enhancing the heat map display by developing a new algorithm using K-D tree data structure and improving the time performance of tool by employing a combination of serialization/deserialization and LZ4 compression technique in a multi-threaded fashion.
