Val Weedon MBE

My first job when I left school in 1966 was working for Music Impresario Don Arden (father to Sharon Osbourne). I continued working in the music industry until 1973 when I left work to have a family. Between this time and 1984 I was involved in voluntary community work, writing for a community newspaper and radio station, where I developed an interest in journalism. I went back to full time education and became a freelance writer. My work has been published widely in newspapers and magazines and I contributed a chapter to the book Why Noise Matters (published in 2011). I received an MBE in 1995 for my campaigning journalism, working with an organisation called The Right to Peace and Quiet, alongside comedian Spike Milligan who was its Patron. I recently discovered I am related to the writer/poet Thomas Hardy OM and I'm presently working on my autobiography.
