Dr. Lalchevska has twenty years of experience in government, academia, NGOs, think tanks, and international organizations in different countries across the world. She holds a PhD in Development Studies from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva. Her research interest is in geopolitics and international relations, and she strives to provide policy-relevant advice that promotes positive peace, human rights and sustainable development. In particular, she is interested in the nexus of government and corporate social (and environmental) responsibility and how these can be enhanced to serve the individual, country-level, and global good. Lalchevska previously worked for the Macedonian Government where her latest post was Deputy National Coordinator for the International Organisation of the Francophonie (OIF), and where she played a vital role in securing fully-pledged membership for Macedonia in the OIF. She has held various positions in think tanks including the Women’s Foreign Policy Group based in Washington, DC, and the Geneva Centre for Security Policy based in Geneva. She has also worked for several United Nations organizations, including in the field and at headquarters, namely UNHCR, UNICEF, UNDP and the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. She was a longtime UN press officer at United Nations Office at Geneva, covering, inter alia, the Human Rights Council, the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, and the Committee on the Rights of the Child. Vera is a recipient of the Rotary World Peace Fellowship, the Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship, as well as of grants from the Swiss Government, the Macedonian Government, the Graduate Institute and Gettysburg College. She earned her Master’s in International Development Policy from Duke University and her Master’s in European Union Legal and Economic Studies from Paris I Pantheon Sorbonne / Collège des Hautes Etudes Européennes ‘Miguel Servet.’ She holds a BA in Political Science and International Affairs from Gettysburg College. She is co-founder of three Geneva-based civil society organisations promoting sustainable development, the rights of children, and cultural rights, and has has appeared on several talk shows including Al Jazeera – The Stream; Alfa Television – 60 Minutes with Goran Momiroski; and TV Sonce – Jadi Burek, as well as on online news publications, such as MKD.MK and off.net.mk.
