Vicky Parsons

I was born in Australia, but now live in the UK. I used to go fossiking for fossils with my dad as a small child and always knew I wanted to work in the excavation of some sort of remains. Through my school years I discovered history and decided to study archaeology. Between rocky years moving around, I needed up at La Trobe uni in Melbourne studying a Bachelor of Arts with an archaeology major, but always knew after being introduced to Time Team in my first year, that I wanted to do British archaeology. My parents moved to the UK, so shortly after I followed, but had to wait three years until I could study as a British citizen (British parents). I worked some bar jobs, and moved into retail, being at River Island when I began my Bsc in prehistoric and roman archaeology degree. I completed that in 2015 and started commercial work in the August and formally graduated in November. What followed was three years working around the countryside, in Eval trenches, major infrastructure projects, open area excavations and a few tiny watching briefs. I got faster at digging and more confident with the tools. I learnt to record features, survey trenches and features and help with databases in the office. I left archaeology when i became a parent, but started working in retail in 2021 and am currently at Primark, however still applying for those archaeology jobs when I see them. I am unable to move, but happily commute to where im needed.
