Victoria Allen

At school: I am passionate about raising global awareness in the 11-18 age range. In addition to the curriculum, I run includes taster courses, lunchtime clubs, cultural activities and overseas trips. Current research: It is my hope to give students tools for life, not just a working knowledge about the subjects I teach. I am working on a project with combines growth mindset and resilience in the classroom, dealing with setting stretch targets and overcoming students' fear of failure. I have completed action research in the Spring term of 2017 with a KS3 MFL class, which has encompassed a range of mixed ability students and has seen them make considerable progress within their own ability range. Recent research: I have completed a short-term research project in conjunction with the Institute of Education, University College London. I investigated effective intervention strategies for improving accuracy in the active skills (writing) of non-native Mandarin learners. It was published by UCL in March 2018.
