Vinh Nguyen

I am a versatile and strong-willed individual who is actively seeking a career in law and policy. My interests for this field bloomed from a very young age, and has only blossomed further throughout my post-secondary education, as shown through my accumulating work experience and achievements.Over the years, I have fallen in love with understanding the fundamentals of law. I am currently learning about the applications administrative law through immersion, as an IRCC employee who assists with researching recent jurisprudence to ensure effective litigation for ongoing immigration cases. I am currently seeking to familiarize myself further with private law, to compliment my current knowledge about public law (e.g. criminal law and international law).I also have a passion for understanding the nuances of different governmental measures, and possess a background in policy pertaining to inclusivity and national security. I previously assisted with developing a framework in Health Canada to implement the department's Sex and Gender Action Plan (the framework was chosen as a best practice model), and I am also performing my first research project pertaining to Canadian national security as a research intern at the European Values Center for Security Policy. Both of these experiences involved extensive research pertaining to how varying demographics are differentially affected by the same circumstances.My participation for law and policy-related topics extends beyond my work experience. As a university student, I have actively participated as a student delegate for my university's International Relations Society, and as a member of my university's United Nations Society. From these experiences, I have had the privilege to understand the priorities of different nations by visiting their representative offices, competing in mock committees as a delegate, and participating in policythons. As a result, I have had the privilege of winning awards in two separate competitions hosted by Harvard, an achievement which makes me proud.In my spare time, I love to learn new things, such as the nuances of global economics, military doctrine, alongside activities such as cooking and baking. I also love to stay active by doing a variety of activities, ranging from leisurely activities (such as hikes and walks) to more intensive training (i.e., weightlifting). I am remain excited to acquire new knowledge and skillsets.
