My BackgroundI launched my Vistage practice after a 30+ years of jet set global executive career spanned over 6 industries and after doing business in 50+ countries. I have been a beneficiary of the generosity of my mentors in three different countries where I have lived so far, most importantly the United States, my adopted country of citizenship. Why I chose to become a Vistage Chair was driven by an unexpected triple-bypass heart surgery at the age of 56. Not only I survived the surgery, just within the 6 months of focused work, I was healthier than I ever was in the previous 30 years. Then, what do I do with this gift of a new life? Selflessly pay forward is the only calling that befits the great gift of new life. I firmly believe that business is a force for good. Being a Vistage Chair lets me help many entrepreneurs and business leaders in the trenches. I fully relate to them as I was there myself during my 6 assignments including four brutal turnarounds. Life taught me how to gain wisdom from the past, improve the present, and meet the challenges of the future. I now work with more than 50 great business leaders from non-competing industries. The common thread that runs through us all is our growth orientation, holding ourselves accountable, personal development and a passion for helping one-another become better versions of ourselves. My most important learning from my first CEO Vistage group is that a right blend of diverse personalities fosters a shared sense of enlightened self-interest among the members.
